We were very fortunate to meet Lesley a few years ago when we first owned our cafe. Throughout this time Lesley has supported and encouraged every crazy idea I have had – there have been a few! (It’s good to have friends.)
Lesley has been working as a ceramicist for over 38 years, creating unique and interesting designs that constantly evolve. She regularly used to exhibit and has won a number of awards, however in the last few years she has limited her range to a few stockists.
Hand made items, especially one off unique pieces usually come at a much higher cost than mass produced, so we have been very fortunate to have Lesley’s quirky designs at an affordable price as well as having something made completely in Bundanoon! We started with lovely ceramic brooches, owls and birds, which then evolved when we went through our doily’s from the shop, which Lesley took home to create amazing plates!
A few years ago whilst working as a ceramicist, Lesley undertook a 2 year Fine Arts course at TAFE, which has lead her in a new direction as an artist. She began with pastels and has now found her true calling with watercolours. Whilst each piece is unique her individual style in evident. Although Lesley has exhibited her watercolours, Nest & Burrow is the only place you can purchase her paintings outside of an exhibition.
Lesley has created some incredible watercolours, which as large pieces of unique and original art are also extremely affordable.
Since the closure of our local Deli, who were original stockists of Lesley’s teapots and animals, we have now expanded into those pieces as well.
Lesley has been well known for her fabulous range of animal teapots. You could not find a more unique working teapot and they’re made right here in town!!
I think one of the nicest things of all, is when a customer buys a piece of Lesley’s work and she is the shop at the same time…it really is lovely for them to meet the person who designed and made what they are buying, it doesn’t get more personal than that!
