Some of the things I love…. part 1.

There are so many gorgeous things to find, buy and surround ourselves with in our homes.  Some things we find and buy, others we are given and some we have passed down to us.  It’s not always easy to make everything look amazing together, but if you love them, they will give you pleasure whenever you look at them…. (truthfully, some also need to go into the back of the cupboard!)

This post is focusing  specifically on some of the things I love in our house…. the first is the view up our hall to the front door, it is like a light at the end of the tunnel, but I love the way the door frames lead up to and frame the doorway.

I love to read and don’t read nearly as much as I used to….  my all time favourite author is Tim Winton (just for the record.) We are very lucky to have a room that we call the library, it is our side entrance and not useful for much, but makes a wonderful room to fill with books…I love to own books and buying a book is a real pleasure.

As previously mentioned I love my imitation flowers, I also have a small collection of birdhouses (long before the shop, but hence how the name “Nest & Burrow” came about) as well as a new found love of our owl lamps from the shop!

I have been collecting old plates for years, some of the first were from my Grandmother and I even have one from my Great Grandmother.  My Gram had the most beautiful collection of china and I was VERY lucky to be given her crazy tea set.  I have been given other old plates from family members and have bought some myself, to create a collection that I love to look at everyday.

I love our big kitchen dresser full of my special and pretty things.  We use all of the things in the dresser… some have been broken and are now incomplete sets, but they have been touched, used and loved.

What are some of your favourite things?

What part of your house do you love most?

My Gram’s  favourite cup and saucer. She always used this for her cup of tea.. everyday!
